My English Writing Journey in Grade 8 Semester 2

What were your goals for the semester?

At the beginning of the semester, my goal was to improve my writing skills and become more confident in expressing my ideas in English. I wanted to learn how to write different types of essays and be able to structure my writing in a clear and organized way.

What did you learn in class?

I learned a lot of new writing techniques and strategies in class. We studied different types of essays such as persuasive, descriptive, and narrative essays. We also learned about the importance of creating outlines and using transitional phrases to connect our ideas. In addition, we practiced proofreading and editing our own work to improve our grammar and spelling.

What was your favorite writing assignment and why?

My favorite writing assignment was the persuasive essay. I enjoyed researching different arguments and using evidence to support my position. It was challenging to address counterarguments and find ways to refute them. However, it was also rewarding to see how my writing could persuade someone to see my point of view.

How did you improve your writing skills throughout the semester?

I improved my writing skills by practicing regularly and receiving feedback from my teacher and peers. I also read a lot of English articles and books to improve my vocabulary and sentence structure. I learned to revise my writing multiple times and to ask for help when I needed it.

What are you most proud of in your writing this semester?

I am most proud of my ability to express my ideas more clearly and concisely. I also learned how to use more sophisticated vocabulary and sentence structures. Finally, I am proud of my ability to revise and edit my work to make it more polished and professional.

What will you continue to work on in the future?

In the future, I want to continue to work on my grammar and punctuation. I also want to learn how to write more creative and engaging essays that capture the reader's attention. Finally, I want to continue to practice writing regularly so that I can become more confident and skilled in expressing my ideas in English.

My advice for others who want to improve their English writing skills is to practice regularly and to seek feedback from others. It is also helpful to read a lot of English articles and books to expand your vocabulary and sentence structure. Finally, focus on one aspect of writing at a time, such as grammar or organization, and work on improving it before moving on to the next skill.
